They have to display excellent sportsmanship to other teams, cheer and encourage all performers and just keep working hard to support others as well as perform. We have worked hard for this for the last 7 years and they students were made up (many even cried) to hear we won this too.

Overall, a very successful day that couldn't have happened without Ms. Sorbie who now takes the y7 teams. It was a fascinating afternoon and it was heartening to see our pupils conduct themselves in a serious and mature manner, they clearly considered this to be a very important event. We have spent several weeks preparing all pupils for the event, with carefully designed resources being presented during our SECURE programme lessons. There are many important aspects to be considered when delivering a programme like this to young people, neutrality being paramount. An important aim was to inform them of the policies and ideologies of the 5 main UK political parties. We also wanted to give them an authentic voting experience that was as close as possible to the real thing.

783 Students turned out to cast their vote in our recent General Election with Labour receiving 54% of the total votes.

To see some of the resources students have been using, and more details on the event please follow the following links:

Aspire Lesson 5 - The General Election

Aspire Lesson 6 - The General Election

General Election results - Information for parents

, 20 Jun 2017 14:52:58 GMTPretty Mudder 2017
On Saturday 17th June, Miss Greaves and Miss Burrill took their Girls Active Group to the Pretty Mudder Preston. This was for emerging schools in rugby league. The team played 4 matches against other schools and won 2, drew 1 and lost one. They did extremely well to achieve this against a tough referee and as the Wigan schools are very good with most the players playing with Wigan clubs teams unlike our team. All the boys were a credit to the school as they played like gentlemen and did not argue with any of the decisions. I would usually pick a man of the match but all the players played extremely well and feel that it would be too close to call. A great start to the season and hopefully they keep up the hard work and sportsmanship for the rest of the year.
